Mount Kısır Mountaineering

Mount Kısır is one of the highest points in both Eastern Anatolia and Turkey.  For this reason, it is considered among the difficult climbing areas by mountaineers.  The Mountain is approximately 44 minutes’ walk from Ardahan city center.  Mount Kısır has a wide and flat structure.  For this reason, there are suitable areas for camping at the foot of the mountain.  In addition, Çıldır Lake, located at the top of the mountain, feeds the water resources in the mountain.  In this case, it prevents those who are interested in mountaineering from encountering any thirst problem. Kinzi Castle: It is located in Bağdeşen village of Ardahan. Kinzi Castle is thought to have been built before Christ.

Kol Castle: It is located in the Posof district of Ardahan. It is estimated that the castle, whose construction date is unknown, may have been built in the centuries after Christ.

Ramazan Bastion: Located 5 km north of Ardahan city center, this Bastion played an important role in the Ottoman-Russian War (93 War) between 1877 and 1878.

Ahali Bastion: Located in the city center of Ardahan, this bastion was built by the people during the Ottoman-Russian war between 1877 and 1878.

Kötenelik Bastion: It is located in the eastern part of the city, next to the Kura river.

Senger Bastion: It was built in the south of Ahali Bastion during the Ottoman-Russian war between 1877-1878.
