History and Geography

Titlis Mountain is located in the heart of the Alps, in Switzerland’s Uri Canton. The name of this mountain comes from the local German language, meaning ‘pointed’ or ‘sharp-edged.’ It rises prominently in a commanding position in the center of Switzerland, reaching a height of 3,238 meters (10,623 feet), making it one of the highest peaks in the region.

Titlis has been shaped over the years by glaciers and natural erosion. The various valleys, lakes, and forests at the base of the mountain offer great allure to nature enthusiasts. Furthermore, Titlis is a mountain surrounded by steep slopes on all sides, presenting a challenge and an opportunity for climbers and mountaineering enthusiasts.

Titlis Cliff Walk

The suspension bridge on Titlis Mountain, known as the “Titlis Cliff Walk,” is situated in the Uri Canton of Switzerland. Titlis Mountain itself is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps and is one of the most prominent peaks in the region.

The Titlis Cliff Walk suspension bridge is positioned at an elevation of approximately 3,041 meters (9,977 feet) and stretches for about 100 meters (328 feet) in length.

Titlis Rotair – the world’s first rotating cable car!

The TITLIS Rotair cable car ascends towards the snow-covered peak of TITLIS, rotating as it goes. The world’s first rotating cable car takes you from the middle station at Stand level to the summit station at an altitude of 3,020 meters above sea level.

The cable car rotates 360 degrees during the five-minute journey, providing you with picturesque panoramic views of icy, rugged rock faces, deep crevices, and snow-covered mountain peaks. You can reach the summit of Titlis Mountain by changing three different cable cars: 1. Engelberg – Trübsee (1800 m). 2. Trübsee – Stand (2428 m). 3. Stand – Klein Titlis (3020 m).

Above each of the cable cars ascending to the summit, you can find flags representing all the nations.
